After the relatively low box office takings of 'Intolerance', D. W. Griffith would revisit his epic film three years later by releasing two of the film's interlocking stories as standalone features, with some new additional footage. The first of the two was 'The Fall of Babylon', which depicts the conflict between Prince Belshazzar of Babylon and Cyrus the Great of Persia.。一九三〇年代初，一起女大学生宿舍离奇死亡案案发上海滩，中央巡捕房探长关岑（王星越饰）因此结识热爱侦探小说的女大生陆以真（吴佳怡饰），并由此牵扯出一起十七年前的女童绑架案。两年后，陆以真参加上海第一批女警招考，关岑成为她的直属上司。在案件迭出的巡捕房二人联手，重启调查女童拐卖案，驱散了遮蔽在他们头顶的迷雾与噩梦。。
