本作は、週末北欧部chikaの書籍を原案とする物語。北欧が大好きでフィンランド一色の暮らしをしている女性・大鳥縞子が、勤務先の旅行代理店が倒産すると知ったのをきっかけに、フィンランドへの移住を志す様子が描かれる。。Mario (Tognazzi), a rich and eccentric war hero befriends Marco (Dewaere), a loner with a sailboat and takes him home to meet his estranged wife Cleofe (Lia Tanzi Gabriella) and sexually repressed sister in law Matilde (Muti).
