本片跟《小鬼当家》是同一个套路，但“小鬼”的年龄更小，只有五岁，调皮捣蛋的程度也远远超过考尔金的角色。本片改编自50年代的漫画及后来的电视剧，小鬼丹尼斯跟邻居威尔逊老头的往来乃剧情的主线。该片在同年及1998年还有两部电影版，但每部演员都不同。。A mysterious application called 'Wishlist' comes into the possession of a group of teenagers. It fulfills every personal desire if an special task is performed - now they have to deal with this responsibility. In contrary to the expectations no heavenly state occurs. They might have to ask themselves: How much can the people of the world come true before they harm their relativ...。以20世纪30年代中后期为时代背景，以南方某大城市申城为历史舞台，以戏班艺人的跌宕命运和情感纠葛为线索，通过曲折的故事情节，在如诗如画的江南美景的映衬下，在艺人们为生存而抗争的一幅幅画面中，集中刻画了郑世昌、青莲、白长起、罗瑞英、高小菊、裘百灵等艺人形象，既揭示了郑世昌、罗瑞英由普通艺人成长为共产党员的曲折历程，也描述了白长起的堕落轨迹，表现了正义与邪恶的较量，赞美了纯真的爱情，歌颂了中国共产党领导的抗日斗争，同时也展示了越剧在逐渐发展过程中而形成的无穷魅力。。
