故事讲述两个关系并不好的姐妹，改编自黛西·约翰逊2021年出版的同名小说。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。潘华凤受邀至台湾参加研讨会，她此行除了研讨会外，还要与失散多年住在台湾的哥哥潘华锦见面，兄妹俩六十年没见，哥哥盛情款待她以及她的女儿迎晨，这让潘华凤倍感温馨。 其实哥哥华锦有个大秘密，他真实身分其实并不是贸易公司大老板，而只是饭店的清洁工，他编织这个谎言只是为了让妹妹华凤不要担心他，也希望给华凤留下好印象。幸亏有饭店副理王木杉的帮忙，否则华锦的这个大计划是无法成功的。但没想到，饭店总经理出差提早回来，华锦看似完美的计画变得岌岌可危。正当他们在享受亲情之余，他不知道有个坏消息在等他。 由于多月被客人客诉，总经理已决定要辞退华锦，华锦感到人生无望，同一个晚上，华锦不幸地让迎晨和华凤看到了他在饭店垃圾场独自清理垃圾，华凤万万想不到自己的哥哥为了招待她们，竟隐瞒自己是清洁工的身份，为了顾及潘华锦的面子，她于是决定不揭穿这事实。 离别的时候，两兄妹依依不舍，华凤含著泪水告诉华锦，希望华锦抽空回浙江老家一趟，让他们兄妹俩再一起好好品尝地道的家乡酒…… 华锦在回家的路上，妹妹的话一直在他脑海浮现，他脸上露出微笑，想着家乡酒的味道，没错，酒是故乡浓，只是，浓的不是酒，而是，乡愁。。
