导演两年前用纪录片《再见，白楼》（《金边白楼的前世今生》）向自己的童年故居致敬。今次有贾樟柯的公司参与制作，他则以剧情片来细说这栋大楼的居民在逼迁前的故事。主角和两位好友每天都在白楼内练舞，希望终有一天可以上电视台参加比赛。眼见白楼面临清拆，他的父亲想尽办法组织居民，向政府争取更合理的赔偿方案。此时死党亦将离开柬埔寨，他发现从前安稳的家园未必能跟上时代的变化。。电影通过三个普通人的视角来描写人性的困境，三位美国女子布伦达、艾仑和苏，结伴去海地旅行，观光圣地、风景优美的海地来寻找放松和激情。但是她们却发现了这个天堂岛屿背后的贫穷和危险，目睹了当地的贫困生活和严酷的政权，深深被震撼。。In the chaotic days of the '89 Revolution, the city of Sibiu becomes the scene of a violent assault on a Police station that escalates into a bloody confrontation between soldiers, policemen, civilian protesters and representatives of the secret police.
