(Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。“九一八”事变后，侵华日军在中苏边境修建了号称“东方马奇诺防线”的军事要塞。苏联将军的中国养女安娜潜入中国东北，调查要塞，不幸被日军抓获。东北抗联派出侦查员文龙营救安娜。魔术师高小庄、猎人胡大壮、国军女特工谭卓茹、东北军军官魏坤宁等人参与营救。文龙把安娜从虎头要塞劳工营救出后，劳工营日本军官小泉清带兵追击。文龙原计划把安娜从东北的中苏边境送出，可日军提前封锁边境，于是文龙改变计划，决定把安娜送到关内，安娜手上握有记录日军暴行和机密的照片，为避免泄密，日军又派出阿部宽参加抓捕。在护送安娜的过程中，文龙带领众人摧毁了日军铁路、毒品工厂地等一系列军事设施，发现了大量日军侵华罪证。为保护我们掌握的日军罪证，胡大壮、谭卓茹、魏坤宁等人相继牺牲。经过与日军殊死较量，最终把安娜送到了安全地方。
